 Ancient Music in Havanas Historic Center this January
The Esteban Salas International Ancient Music Festival to run again in Old Havanas historic center, January 25 through February 1st.

The 6th edition of the event will be dedicated to the organ, so-called King of Instruments, suitable moment to inaugurate the one located at the San Francisco de Paula Church, following a diligent restoration.

Such usual stages as the San Francisco de Paula Church, the Lesser Basilica of the Saint Francis of Assisi Convent and the Columnata Egipciana and the Cathedral of Havana and others that will join the festival will host nine concerts, as the Old Square (Plaza Vieja) will offer two performances by the Órgano Oriental.

The event also features lecture El órgano en Cuba by musicologist Miriam Escudero (Magna Classroom of the San Geronimo Major College in Havana), audiovisual screenings (Hispanic American Culture Center) and a workshop on the interpretation of the host instrument (Lesser Basilica of the Saint Francis of Assisi Convent and the San Francisco de Paula Church).

The list of Cuban and European musicians who will attend the contest includes: organ players Juan María Pedrero Encabo (Spain), Stefan Baier (Germany), Francis Vidil (France) and Moisés Santiesteban (Cuba); flutists Claudia Gerauer (Germany) and Martina Joos (Switzerland); trumpeter Yasek Manzano (Cuba); Vocal Luna Ensemble (Cuba) and Ars Longa group, host of the annual event.

Sponsored by the City Historians Office and its Ancient Music Group since its founding in February 2003, the Esteban Salas International Ancient Music Festival constitutes one of the events that enrich the cultural development of the island.
