That desire is now being fulfilled with the guitarist and composer made two performances at the Jazz Plaza 2008 festival that took place in Havana, Cuba through February 17th.
"Soul Cry," which reminds us of the early rhythm and blues of Motown; "Wipe out tears" and "Jabulani" are some of his best known songs.
Outside of South Africa Khosa has played with pianist Kenny Barron (United States) and Hilton Ruiz (Puerto Rico). More recently, he impressed the demanding Japanese audience with his participation in a record with saxophonist Kazutoki Umezu on the critics favorite titled Ngoshonaphi.
His understanding of the flow of Jazz between Africa and North America might be what has made Bheki Khosa big. A well-assimilated influence from Duke Ellingtons legacy and the tone of the bebop era are intertwined with the fidelity of his Zulu roots.
Khosas contribution to cinema is also substantial. Three years ago, the soundtrack composed by him for Drum by director Zola Maseko was considered one of the best scores written for a film in the history of South African cinema.
