Sponsored by the Teatro de las estaciones, directed by Rubén Darío Salazar and by the Provincial Centre of Stage Arts, companies from Venezuela, Colombia, Japan, Croatia and Spain among many others will participate in the Festival. Cuba will participate as a host country.

María Antonia Simeón, from the organizing committee, said in a press conference that the workshops Buscadores de sombras (Shadow hunters) of the Italians Fabricio Montecchi and Nicoletta Garioni and Teatro de papel (Paper Theatre) of the French Alain Lecucq, are among the proposals of the program.

The Story of The Czar Saltan, written by Pushkin and presented by the Mini Theatre from Croatia and Different Little Red Ridding Hood by the Serbian group Pinokio, are two new pieces to be seen in the festival.

The festival will also open several exhibitions, such as Almacén titiritero (Puppet warehouse) from Venezuela, Okín pájaro que no vive en jaula (Okin, a bird that does not live in a cage) and Dame la mano y danzaremos (Give me your hand and we shall dance) from Cuba.

The event started in 1994 and will also be held at the Terry theatre at the Cienfuegos city and at the Havana Guiñol theatre.
