Located in the city's historic heart, the hotel is part of an initiative implemented by Cuban tourism authorities to promote little hotels that combine architectural, cultural and historic values.

Last year, El Palacio Azul, in the neighborhood of Punta Gorda, was turned into an Encanto establishment. The building housing La Unión was constructed in 1869 and is characterized by a classic architectural style and charming sobriety.

Over the next few months, the hotels La Casa Verde and San Carlos, also in Cienfuegos, will become Encanto establishments.

Nationwide, that category will be granted to some 30 buildings that meet the standards to become Encanto hotels.
