Young Cuban piano player achieves award in Colombia

The female guitar player from Cienfuegos, Ariadna Cuéllar Pérez, achieved the second prize in the IV International Competition for Young Guitar Players from Bogota, Colombia. The event took place from May 18 to 26 in that city. Graduated from the Higher Art Institute in the year 2007, Cuellar Pérez is a solo concert player and member of the Guitar Orchestra from the Music Provincial Center from Cienfuegos.
The competition in Bogota included 63 contestants from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador and Venezuela. Only ten of them reached the semi-final phase, being decided afterwards that the first place had to go to the Argentinean María Daniela Rossi, the second place went to Ariadna and the third one to Danilo Ignacio Cabaluz Ducasse, from Chile.
Acording to the high quality of artistic teaching in our country, the Cuban piano player Marcos Madrigal Soto also achieved a prize these days in the category of Performance, in this case, in the third Concorso Internazionale Pianistico Citta´ Di Avezzano, Italy.
