Cuban composer Juan Formell described World Music Festival, which began in Varadero yesterday, with the presence of musical groups and artists from 10 nations, as a great celebration.

Until June 15, the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy several activities in this beach resort, 87 miles east Havana, with dance shows and performances until late at dawn, Formell, President of the Organizing Committee, affirmed.

"Varadero is an important place in the city. It is one of the most beautiful beaches of the world and these beach resorts, like Acapulco and Cancun, in Mexico, have an infrastructure that is fueled by these festivals", he specified.

The idea is to make festivals of this kind but without a certain style every year. To interpret rock, pop, rumba, romantic songs or dance music, the director of the famous orchestra Van Van affirmed.

The festival took place for the first time in 1967 and then it was soon repeated in three more occasions.
