The Tropico 2008 Convention takes place in the framework of the International Year of Planet Earth, and the World Day against Desertification and Drought, being commemorated today.

Natural disasters, food safety, and the development of technologies at the service of those problems are among the topics of higher interest at the event.

The meeting includes the second Tropical Geography Congress, the third Tropical Agriculture Congress, the second Congress on Biodiversity and Tropical Ecology, and the second Tropical Meteorology Congress.
