The signatories expressed their indignation at the latest decision made by the Court of Appeals of Atlanta on the Cubans’ case. On June 4 the three-judge panel ratified the verdict of guilty against The Five.

Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino and Rene Gonzalez can only be “blamed” for trying to defend their country, and the US as well, from terrorist actions conducted by counter-revolutionary groups based in Miami, the letter says, as posted on the Cuban Foreign Ministry’s website.

The source says that thousands of Cubans have died during the past 49 years as a consequence of those criminal acts and mentions as an example the mid-air blowing up of a Cubana airliner, in 1976, that cost the lives of 73 innocent people.

The letter denounces that today the people responsible for those deaths, confessed terrorists Orlando Bosch and Luis Posada Carriles, live freely in a country that supposedly defends the international struggle against terrorism (US).
