Cuba's sugar production increased 24 percent during the 2007-2008

They added that 54 sugar factories processed sugarcane, 28 of which fulfilled their production plan.
Among the main problems faced during the harvest were the late arrival of basic resources, breakdowns and interruptions at sugar mills, and heavy rains in March and April.
The experts recalled that sugar production would have grown more than 24 percent if the sugar obtained from the so-called molasses B, which is used as animal feed, would have been taking into account.
Production of refined sugar rose more than 70 percent compared to the previous harvest.
