More than 100 circus artists from seven countries have confirmed their presence at the Circuba Festival 2008 to be held in Havana on August 5-17, announced the organizers.

Circuba was revived in 2007 after an 18-year absence, reports Granma daily. The event will have two main venues, the Karl Marx Theater and the Trompoloco Circus Tent, where the competitive galas will take place.

Cuba, as the host, will be represented by its top circus companies including the popular Havana troupe, a grouping of young acrobats who won the previous contest.

Circuba 2008 takes place during the 40th anniversary of the founding of the National Circus, considered one of the most prestigious of Latin America.
