Cuban Basic Industry Minister Yadira García explained that the biggest fruit of the Energy Revolution is to maintain the country in the same levels of power generation as two years ago, but with a higher economic growth.
This has been possible through a correct and quick energy saving policy in the residential and state sectors, together with the installation of efficient generators and the elimination of high energy consuming equipment.
The Cuban minister also described as crucial the contribution from the national oil industry to the current favorable energy situation of the island.
She said that the annual plan of four million tons of equivalent fuel can be overcome, given the good performance in extraction in existing wells and in those drilled under study phase.
She emphasized priority given to oil prospecting and exploration, particularly in the Island's western and the exclusive area of the Gulf of Mexico because of their prospects in energy security and strategic development.
The deputies also received other valuable information about the increase in refining capacities and the projects to develop the petrochemical industry.
