The department resulted from a teaching and research process that began in 1989 at the Hotel and Tourism Management Group, and by the Tourist Research Center (CETUR) in 2002.

The faculty teaches pre-grade students and 386 post-grade students and is carrying out eight research projects

The faculty consists of three departments (Tourism, Travels and Hospitality Agencies), and teaches basic subjects like mathematics, informatics and languages.

The new facility has six teaching centers, where students major in tourism and tourist management.
