The International Festival of the New Latin American Cinema of Havana and the ALBA Cultural have created a new award, called "LATINOAMÉRICA PRIMERA COPIA (Latin American First Copy), post production ALBA cultural award, sponsored by the Cinema and Audio Visual media Platform of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Arts and Industry (ICAIC, after its initials in Spanish).

The award, which is one of the initiatives of this 30 Festival, linked to the industry, consist in a support that can be in financial resources or in provision of services, so that the project (or projects) can be effectively finished and presented to the public. As many awards as possible will be given, taking into account the needs of each movie and the availability of the Fund that fuels the Award.

A selection committee will evaluate and determine the five finalists that will compete for the award. This information will be given the 15 of November 2008.

LATINOAMÉRICA, PRIMERA COPIA will be given every year during the festival from this year that is the 30 edition of the mentioned event.
