Oriente´s Symphony Orchestra, the city´s guitar group and Tumba Francesa, a French- Haitian folk music-and-dance group, declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2003, were some of the local artists who participated in the gala. The script goes from the indigenous community, Spanish colonization, French-Haitian influence, and the pseudo-republic, to a tribute to Frank Pais, a young Cuban martyr, and his comrades in the city´s clandestine struggle.
