The professionals, members of the Jose Marti Brigade, will give creation workshops every week, and will advise the artistic units in the penitentiaries.

Mayelin Gotera, Cuban UJC (Young Communist League) Provincial committee member and coordinator for the capital's Brigade that was named after Cuba's National Hero, said the most recent graduation of art instructors was important.

"A number of 79 cultural promoters graduated, and from their area of operations, will be responsible for enhancing the prisoners' traditional culture," Gotera told the Juventud Rebelde daily.

When the young convicts fulfill their sentences, they will be able to work in their communities or in any place they are needed. They will have to take a rehabilitation course, which will give them more tools to develop a good career in this beautiful profession, she said.
