After losing to defending champions South Korea 1-6 in semifinals, the Caribbean squad dispatched Australia 6-2 on Sunday in the third-place game behind an excellent pitching performance by Erluis Blanco, who scattered eight hits and struck out 10 in a complete game.

Yasiel Puig led the Cuban 11-hit attack with three hits, including two doubles, and three runs while Javier Camero contributed two hits, a double and two RBIs.

In the championship game, South Korea kept their title with a 7-0 shutout win over the United States.
