The piece, charged with romanticism in the polished style the Cuban artist usually gives to her creations, is based on the homonymous symphonic poem by Cerón, reported the Granma newspaper today.

Cuba’s National Ballet Company will travel to the country’s capital, Santo Domingo, to perform the piece in a program that includes the ballets “En las sombras de un vals,” also by Alonso, and “Alfonsina,” by Gustavo Herrera.

The presentation will take place within the context of celebrations marking the 145th anniversary of the Restoration of the Republic and the swearing in of another period of government under President Leonel Fernández.
