The groups to perform were selected by a jury and are from the two Havana provinces, Sancti Spiritus, Matanzas, Cienfuegos, Ciego de Avila, Granma and Camaguey, informed the organizing committee.

The program will take place at several cultural and school installations led by the city’s main theater. There will also be several collateral activities including tributes to theater personalities, book presentations, expositions and two seminars.

Actors and actresses Vicente Revuelta, Mario Balmaseda, Aurora Basnuevo, Mario Limonta and Jose Milian are among the invited personalities.

The "El Publico" theater group from the city of Havana will perform on September 11 as a prologue to the contest.

"Mefisto Teatro," also from the capital, won the grand prize at the last festival in 2006.
