Statistics show that some 30,000 Russian tourists visited Cuba in 2007, and that number might increase to 33,000 in 2008, according to sources from the tourism sector.

As a result of that growing trend, the Russian airline Aeroflot is operating a third weekly flight to Cuba during the summer season.

In addition, Cuban and foreign tour operators based on the Caribbean Island are promoting travels to Cuba in several Russian cities and international tourist fairs.

The Cuban companies Sol y Son and Cubanacán are carrying out the Viva Cuba campaign in Moscow and several Russian cities, among other initiatives.
