According to Granma news daily, ACL Director Roberto Fernandez Retamar, explained that the text, published by Boloña Publishing House, of the Office of the Havana Historian, was described by ACL academics as a very important element of the cultural and historic memory of the country.

For more than 40 years, the author conducted her research using diverse testimonies and documents related to the musical life of the Caribbean nation throughout more than three centuries.

For the significance of her research work, Lapique also received the National Award on Social Sciences in 2003.
