During the meeting, Foreign Minister Kyprianou, who is on an official visit to Cuba, announced the decision of his government to donate US$ 100,000 to Cuba as a gesture of support from the people of Cyprus with the victims of hurricanes Gustav and Ike in the island.

Previously, the head of the Cypriot diplomacy expressed his country’s interest in strengthening economic and commercial relations with Cuba.

After meeting earlier in the day with the Cuban Foreign Investment and Economic Collaboration Minister, Marta Lomas, Kyprianou said the two countries are exploring the possibility of developing collaboration ties in the sectors of healthcare, agriculture and energy among others.
