Oliva told Prensa Latina this is the first time such a large group of Cuban artists participates in a collective exhibit in Portugal, which opens a new relationship between artists of both nations.
He said the exhibit encourages solidarity with Cuba that was recently damaged by hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
Antonio Filipe, also president of the parliament group of solidarity with Cuba, and Cuban ambassador to Lisbon Jorge Castro opened the exhibit with the attendance of secretary general of the Portuguese Communist Party Jeronimo Sousa, several mayors, painters, artists, diplomats, and other personalities of the Portuguese culture.
