‘The Imagined Island: Cuban Literature at Present’ was the title of a colloquium with which the Cuban participation in the event began with the presence of writers Guillermo Rodríguez Rivera, Anna Lidia Vega Serova,

Gleyvis Coro Montante, Jorge Enrique Lage and Edel Morales.

The Cuban delegates exhibited the most recent titles published in Cuba and they also gave details about the International Book Fair of Havana, scheduled for February 12-22 next year.

The new catalogue of the Latin American Literary Agency was launched as part of Liber 2008 while Cuban delegates participated in meetings and talks with writers, publishers and readers from several countries who

are also taking part in the book fair.

Cuban and Catalan authors also organized a round table entitled ‘Globalization, Literature and Consumerism’ that took place October 10th. Specialists discussed topics such as the role of new information technologies

and their contribution to the democratization of culture, among others.
