Spanish Secretary of State for International Cooperation Soraya Rodriguez, and Cuban Deputy Cooperation and Foreign Investment Minister Ricardo Guerrero signed the document, the daily added.

The text contains the Spanish intention to contribute 24.5 million Euros in additional aid to Cuba, recently pounded by Ike and Gustav, which left more than 5 billion dollars in losses.

Rodriguez highlighted the new funds aim at education, water use, and housing restoration.

Cuba is a priority country in the Spanish policy for aid to development, and a strategic partner in South-South cooperation, the secretary of State reiterated.
