The project began to be developed here in May 2007 and has a superior budget to the four million pesos, in national and convertible currency, which has facilitated the rehabilitation of 65 kilometers of pipes.

The works, in charge of a brigade of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INRH), are carried out with pipes of polyethylene (PEAD) that theoretically can last 100 years under the land.

The program also favors big cities, such as Havana, Holguin, Camaguey and Santiago de Cuba, and among its objectives are the efficient use of the water, a resource that is running short in the world.
