In 1969 this dancer became the couple of dance of Antonio Gades, with who she remains during two decades, period in which she also participated in the trilogy film Bodas de Sangre (Bloody Weddings), Carmen and El Amor Brujo (Bewitching Love).
In her vast artistic career Cristina has received numerous awards, among those figure the National Prize in Dance, the Gold Medal of Andalusia, the Gold Medal of the Fine Arts, the Prize Andalusia in Culture, the Order of the Arts and of the Letters of French Government, Spanish Personality of the French Prizes of Tourism for the Maison of France, Prize of the Public to the best show in the Festival of Nouvelle Danse in Montreal, Canada.
For first time the province of Las Tunas is included among the main places to celebrate the International Ballet Festival of Havana that in this occasion pays homage to the 60th anniversary of the Foundation of the National Ballet of Cuba.
