Two pieces were premieres during the opening ceremony. These two pieces, together with other important choreographies pay tribute to the orishas of the Yoruba pantheon, among them Santa Bárbara, a goddess worshipped in this city and to La Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre patron saint of Cuba.
They also performed French – Haitian dances, such as the French tumba and the gaga, which are representative of the Latin American customs, very popular, mainly in the Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo provinces.
The Cienfuegos group keeps the constant improvement of its dancers, who rescue the cultural traditions of the province.
