The general director of the office, Mauri Laskano, highlighted the commercial, political and social bonds between Cuban and Basque officials, which he said have supported the presence of their companies in the island.
Basque commercial companies are involved in almost all areas of the Cuban economy providing industrial and technological supplies, especially in the energy, iron and steel, tourism, mining, health and education sectors.
Present at the ceremony were Carlos Alonso Zaldívar, Spain’s ambassador to Cuba; Iñaki Tellechea, the deputy minister for industry for the Basque Government; and Antoni Carricarte, Cuban deputy minister for Foreign Trade.
