"We have always supported the island's efforts for defending sovereignty and independence," Granma newspaper reported Wednesday.

The Chinese minister said that the maintenance of Cuba's stability and development contribute to its people's welfare and prosperity in the Latin American and Caribbean region, the daily stated.

He said his country feels the suffering and enormous material losses provoked by hurricanes Gustav and Ike on the Cuban people, and noted that with help from his government, Cubans will be recover from those natural disasters.

Jinzhang said that he does not forget that when the Asian country was affected by natural events, it received generous support from Cuba.

The Chinese official stressed that the link in the transportation sector is extensive, especially in the Yutong buses with a favorable welcome on the Cuban market.

"A similar situation is happening with the electrical appliances delivered to families, as part of the energy saving program," the diplomat stated.
