The Cuban Central Petroleum Perforation and Extraction Company celebrated its one million tons of crude oil (7 million barrels) extracted for the current year. This marks the 14th year in a row that they have accomplished such a production feat before year's end, a 14% increase compared to last year.
At a formal ceremony to mark the occasion, company workers committed themselves to producing another 160,000 tons (1,120,000 barrels) for what's left of this year.
