Cuban leader, GM Leinier Dominguez (2,719) continued its undefeated path through this tournament by drawing in his match against GM Gata Gamski, but the day’s surprise was GM Yuinieski Quezada’s victory over GM Alexander Onischuk (2644).

Meanwhile, Grand Masters Jesus Nogueira and Lazaro Bruzon, third and second Cuban board, respectively, lost their matches against GMs Hikaru Nakamura and Yuri Shulman.

In this same round the Cuban female team beat the ICSC 3.5-0.5, with three victories by Lisandra Ordaz, Yaniet Marrero and Oleiny Linares, while Cuba’s first board Maritza Arribas drew her match against WIM Tatian Blakanova.
