Two Cuban curators, Nelson Herrera and José Manuel Noceda, who were in charge of the opening ceremony, highlighted that the objective of the exhibition was to bring a small sample of Cuban contemporary art to Honduras as a contribution to the meeting of artists from the region.
Attending the ceremony were Cuba’s ambassador to Tegucigalpa, Juan Carlos Hernández, and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Honduras, as well as artists, art critics, and art lovers from that Central American nation.
Isla In Continente (Isla sin Contenciones), depicts unpublished aspects of a rich tradition of more than 200 years. It is centered on painting, but it also includes drawings, engravings, sculptures, and photographs.
