Another novelty in this event of music industry in Cuba is the acceptance for the first time among the nominees are those alternative phonographic or audio-visual musical productions, as long as they are represented by an institution related to culture.

The Cubadisco International Festival, founded in 1997 and organized by the Cuban Music Institute, is the event with the highest level of integration among those productions edited by the music houses and labels as well as Cuban and foreign institutions, related to the musical work of our country.

Cubadisco are also promotes tributes and it hands in national and international awards to important personalities of Cuban and universal culture, but it also constitutes a preferential space to exhibit the main achievements of the country’s photography, with special presentations of artists from the country as well as foreign ones, pointed out Prensa Latina.

Cubadisco 2009 will be held in Havana, from May 16 to 24 and it will be dedicated to the music and the children and the guest of honour will be Puerto Rico, a country that is related through historical and cultural links.
