The forum coincides with the 36th anniversary of the establishment of the Cuban diplomatic relations with Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago, beginning of the end of the US-imposed policy of isolation against Cuba in the Caribbean environment.
Cuba's cooperation with the CARICOM states has achieved an important development since 1972, and the Caribbean nation has counted with its solidarity fighting the US blockade and the demand of punishment for terrorist Luis Posada Carriles.
At present, there are about 362 Cuban collaborators working in the Caribbean nations, 81 percent of them in health, and 3,141 youth of the area are studying in the island.
The increase of joint work in the immediate future, and the analysis of transcendental issues like the world economic, financial and energy crisis will be included in the forum's agenda.
Also on the list is to define a position in front of the Summit of Latin American and Caribbean statesmen slated for this month in Salvador de Bahia, first opportunity of a meeting of this kind without the attendance of foreign powers.
