Based on Alexander Dumas' free version of The Nutcracker and the King of Mice, by Ernesto Teodoro Amadeo Hoffmann, the Cuban Ballet's version is a co-production with La Fenice Theater Foundation from Venice, and the Carlo Felice Foundation from Genoa.
Prima ballerina Anette Delgado will be dancing the lead role, and among other dancers are Elier Bourzac, Yanela Piñera, Veronica Corveas, Ernesto Alvarez, Jose Losada, Ivis Diaz and Leandro Perez.
The Nutcracker was premiered in December 5, 1893, at Saint Petersburg's Mariinsky Theater. Its main characters are Clara, Drosselmeyer (Clara's godfather) and The Nutcracker.
