The national director of the Community Computer Centers program, Raúl Van Troi, said that the website is a tribute from Cuban young people and represents a useful tool to continue learning about recent Cuban history.
The new site has sections devoted to the Cuban revolutionary process along with biographies of several Cuban heroes and chronologies of every important event that has taken place on the island during the last fifty years since the triumph of the revolution on January 1, 1959. It also provides information on the main social programs of the Revolution, and videos and pictures of daily activities related to the Revolution.
According to Raúl Van Troi, the site also has more than 600 pictures, videos and innumerable books at the users’ disposal. The amount of material will grow as users introduce their own images and opinions.
Also attending the presentation was Liudmila Álamo, second secretary of the Communist Youth League (UJC).
The 50th Anniversary of the Revolution website will also include interactive opinion forums, including one on the participation of young Cubans in recovery activities after the passing of two major hurricanes over the island.
