The tribute, which is sponsored by the club of friends of the orchestra, will consist of a gala and dance in which prominent Cuban musicians will perform.

Other activities include a radio contest with reports, interviews and chronicles about the orchestra and its musicians.

Documentaries will be screened, and dance competitions and a colloquium on identity and the orchestra's contributions to Cuban culture will be held as part of the homage.

Original de Manzanillo, one of Cuba's best popular orchestras, debuted in December 1963.
