In Las Tunas the recent natural disasters seriously damaged more than 20, 300 hectares of several cultivations, 86 percent of all the sowings, and the immense majority of those dedicated to the banana, one of the main diets of those 530, 000 inhabitants of the province.
They also caused significant affectations in the swinish branch, the poultry keeping, the bovine cattle raising and other programs of the agricultural sector.
The Company of the National State Insurance of Cuba, created on December 22, 1978, protects besides the resources and productions of the agricultural sector, the life and other goods of its clients, while its collections increase the budget of the country and the funds dedicated to the social consumption.
