Raul Castro expressed his complete satisfaction for being in this country, visit that contributes to deepen the historical ties among our people, with ties of brotherhood that are strengthened throughout years, of cultural identity from our roots.
He deeply thanked the aid and human solidarity of the Brazilians after the three hurricanes that affected the island in 2008 and he made reference to the letter sent to President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva for the loss of human lives, victims of the floods in Santa Catarina.
I thank the support of Brazil to Cuban fight against US blockade, he said, and praised the recent pronouncement of its Congress in favour of Cuba.
Raul Castro recalled that the Summits, four of them, and Cuba participated in three, constitute the first step of that long way to go, we have already made a good distance, the rest is not that long.
