New Challenge for Cuban Sprinter Dayron Robles The 2009 Golden League
The International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) has just confirmed the return of the 110-meter hurdles competition at the 2009 Golden League. This will provide a great boost to Cuban runner Dayron Robles, who is the Olympic champion and world record holder in this discipline.

In 2009, there will be ten AF Golden League disciplines, five events for men and five for women, as follows: Men: 100m, 400m, 3000m/5000m, 110m Hurdles, Javelin Throw.
Women: 100m, 400m, 100m Hurdles, High Jump, Pole Vault.

The circuit has six stages and will begin on June 14 in Berlin, Germany. Then, it will move to Oslo, Norway (July 3); Rome, Italy (July 10); and Paris, France (July 17).

Later , there will be a pause to facilitate the participation of athletes in the 12th World Championship (Berlin, August 15 to 23). After this, the League contests will re-commence in Zurich, Switzerland (August 28), and conclude in Brussels, Belgium on September 4.

During the 2008 Golden League, young Kenyan Pamela Jelimo (18) finished first, winning in all her competitions and broke the 800 meter junior world record five times.

IAAF President Lamine Diack said, “We are all excited at the prospect of seeing the most charismatic stars of our sport in action on the AF Golden League stage.”
