Ciego de Ávila Shows Success in Educational Sector

Over 27 000 young people started or continued programs either at the four universities of the territory or their several branches in every municipality.
Two vocational senior high schools, specialized in pedagogical sciences, were inaugurated this year to welcome some 2 000 students engaged in becoming teachers or professors.
In spite of the destruction caused by Hurricane Ike, all the centers kept their functions after the recuperative stage, even when the meteorological event damaged 142 facilities, including daycare centers.
The necessary means to guarantee the quality of the learning process arrived to the most remote places. The endeavour provided over five hundred schools with the required equipment.
Students who suffer from any physical or mental incapacity continued to receive special educational attention in schools where costly resources are available.
Among the achievements of the educational sector in the province, mention should be made of the upgrading of professionals, who have taken graduate courses, as well as masters and doctorates, which fact benefits the quality of the teaching-learning process.
The return of retired teachers to the classrooms also helped the sector, since they proved able to continue shaping the new generations of Cubans and thus help the development of the country.
