The goal is to bring medical services to the communities, to prevent patients from traveling long distances to receive medical treatment in provincial hospitals that provide such services as endoscopy, biliary drainage, ultrasound screening, X-ray and minor surgery.
The new polyclinic has a small ward for emergency childbirths, 20 beds for obstetric and pediatric care and a nearby physical rehabilitation ward.
Granma has 25 rehabilitation wards, 18 hospitals and 151 networks of pharmacies and opticians shops, and maternal and elderly homes, among other facilities.
