The Cuban government official explained that the amount of products offered to the population under the ration system and for social consumption stand for the circulation of 150, 000 tons of food in 27 major commodity lines; such activity was less affected this year than in 2007.
However, the Domestic Trade Minister admitted that the activity has not yet achieved necessary stability, since the deliveries of certain products were not fulfilled appropriately.
In tune with the country's economic plan for 2009, the retail trade activity expects to increase by 26.4 percent in relation to this year's estimate, said the minister and pointed out that the domestic trade sector keeps recovering from the negative impact of the economic slump undergone by the country over the past years.
The Cuban government official addressed lawmakers at working commissions that are holding meetings, prior to the 2nd Ordinary Session of the 7th Legislature of the Cuban Parliament, scheduled for next Saturday at Havana's Conventions Center.
