Welcoming this step as a significant event in bilateral relations, Cuban Ambassador Felix Leon stressed that the business group is set to become a driving force for Cuban-Ukrainian economic links.

He described the initiative as timely and necessary in finding new ways to exchange and diversify collaboration and exports.

Leon highlighted new prospects in Cuban biotechnology industry exports to Ukraine and in the field of transportation with repair and assembly of Ukrainian-made trucks in Cuba.

He noted that bilateral trade tripled in 2008, compared to 2007, despite the world financial crisis.

The business council is made up of Ukrainian businesspeople and representatives of economic, financial and productive organizations interested in developing commercial links with the Island.
