In remarks to Granma daily, Director of the Institute of Science and Material Technology (IMRE), Ernesto Estevez, highlighted the importance of being part of the nanoworld, which is scientific, economical and political.
He said main fields to carry out efforts in this regard include the energy and the pharmaceutical sectors, the latter because of progress achieved in biotechnology in the Island.
This development has to be based on an already constructed building of well-trained scientists, who must be part of the process, he said.
IMRE started modest, but significant efforts in this science eight years ago, with 16 doctors graduated and a group of researchers who have acquired abilities abroad. All this shows how the country is training human resources in this area, said Estevez.
Polymers studies and research on efficient accumulation of energy and zeolite are in progress in Cuban labs.
