At the presentation of the calendar, which has an image of Jose Marti on the cover, the founder of the Center, Sandra Levinson, said it was the best political, artistic and historical symbol that could encapsulate our dreams about Cuba.
The New York's cultural centre is the oldest non-governmental institution of its type founded in the United States. It was created by a group of young intellectuals, artists and friends of Cuba in 1972.
Over the past 36 years, its members have challenged their country's plans against the Cuban Revolution, in particular the actions taken by the outgoing Bush administration.
