Coaches and experts chose Dimeys Góngora among men and Glendys González among women as the best Cuban players in 2008.

Both Góngora and González were substitute players in the qualifier for the Beijing Olympic Games. González ranks ninth and Góngora ranks tenth in the region.

In the junior category, the best player was Jorge Moisés Campos, who was unbeatable at the national Olympic and is the leading male player in the ongoing national league.

Other outstanding players were Leysi Jiménez in the under-18 category and Sandra Mustelier in the under-21 group.
