Arnold Alcolea finished third, thus repeating his performance in the previous event, while his compatriot, Raúl Granjel, finished in the fifth place.

Adonis Cardoso and Alcolea gave Cuba medals in the partial races and regularity category, respectively.

Cuba also won the silver medal by teams, only preceded by the Costa Rican team BCR-Pizza Hut-Powerade.

Five local teams and a similar number of foreign teams participated in the Costa Rican tour, which consisted of 1,529 kilometers divided into 14 stages.
