Cuban Catchers Looking for the World Baseball Classic

Ariel Pestano has been the star catcher of the Cuban National Team for the last several years and has begun this national series with a discrete batting performance. However, Pestano has in his favour his excellent defense and experience in international competitions. Pestano is currently hitting 288, three homeruns and 19 RBI's.
Eriel Sanchez for Sancti Spiritus has a current weak batting average of 238, 5 doubles, 2 homeruns and 15 RBI's while his defense has not been too good this year.
Catcher Yenier Bello who returned to Sancti Spiritus after playing for Camaguey for several years is batting 315 with 3 doubles, 1 triple and 7 homeruns with 19 RBI's.
The number of homeruns hit by Rolando Merino is expected to increase during his team's series against the weak pitching of Cienfuegos. Merino who is the current catcher for the defending champions Santiago de Cuba is heading the list with 9 homeruns. He has gotten 6 of 9 runner out at second base.
Meanwhile, Selme Angulo from Holguin has had a spectacular Stara with a batting average of 324, 7 doubles, 4 homeruns and 12 RBI's. Angula is the only catcher that bats left handed has gotten 10 out of 18 runners out at second, but has committed 6 errors.
And there is Yosvani Peraza from Pinar del Rio who is currently batting 353 with 4 doubles, 6 homeruns and 17 RBI's.
Peraza who was among the players selected to go to Beijing was taken out at the last minute, creating controversy among the fans and specialists on the island.
