The findings obtained by the Center for Genetic and Biotechnology Engineering (CIGB) are being evaluated in the first phase of the long road to be traveled by this medicine, although the opinions of experts is crucial for the further development of the product.
IGBC director Roberto Basulto said that this new result allows them to move forward in this field through the joint effort of the institution with other entities in the country, including the Ministry of Public Health and particularly with medical and paramedical personnel at the local Marie Curie Cancer Hospital (MCCH).
At MCCH, the territorial delegation of the Ministry of Science Technology and Environment on Friday held a ceremony recognizing all people and institutions that ensured the successful conclusion of this first research phase.
Dr. José Castelló, the head of CITMA in Camagüey, said the province has been the scene of several clinical trials, but the current is of greatest importance in bringing to the market a locally born product.
Fifty years ago, no one could imagine scientific progress of this nature, while the manager called it the result of the unity and confidence of the nation’s people in the construction of socialism.
